So, Xavier's Sunday School is having a contest to memorize scriptures. If you memorize your age, you receive a prize. If you memorize one more than your age, you get a t-shirt. We received a booklet about a month ago with the scriptures that they're studying in class to help them memorize. Tonight, Xavier has successfully learned 5 scriptures and was telling them to Grandma and Grandpa on Skype. Ezekiel has been memorizing them with Xavier and I'm hoping Xavier's teacher will give him a prize as well. One of the scripture's they were to memorize was Mark 8:35 "Whoever gives up his life for me and for the Good News will have true life forever."
Xavier's version: "Whoever gives up his life will have true life forever." We have to help him remember who he's giving his life up for, but he's about got it.
Ezekiel's version: "Whoever gives up his life."
I ask, "What do you get, Ezekiel?"
His response: "A T-shirt!"
Grandma, Grandpa and I couldn't stop laughing and Ezekiel thought he had just done the greatest thing in the world. Sadly, Daddy was brushing Xavier's teeth so it's not on video, but now it's recorded. Ezekiel does know two other verses, so he's well on his way to his t-shirt. :-)
